Hidden meanings in business names

Google
This hidden meaning changed Google forever
In 1995 to 1996, Larry Page and Sergey Brin (founders of Google) came up with a genius idea. However, they were late to the search engine party and feared that their system wouldn’t take off but their one asset was…
PageRank
PageRank is an algorithm used by Google to rank web pages in their search results. This algorithm would change the way that search engines work forever.
So what did they call this genius search engine? What would you name the search engine to change all search engines???
BackRub. They decided to name the search engine BackRub.
If you don’t believe me, you can BackRub it… I mean Google it.
One day, Larry Page was looking at the number Googol which looks like this
Page thought it was cool and as he was writing about it, he accidentally spelled it as “Google”. The founders liked the misspelling and saw that the domain was available. They decided to change the name from BackRub to Google.
In a moment of awe, Page realised that “It turns out that most people misspell some things” . From that idea, Google created a feature that would correct spelling mistakes when people search for things. The PageRank and the spelling corrections made Google much better than other search engines at the time and Google started to dominate the market.
The name changed the company forever
