It seems Gen Z took over the charts in 2020, as the biggest hits coincided with some of the year's most popular TikTok songs. The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” took the top spot for most popular song with close to 1.6 billion plays. The single was the subject of a popular dance on the social media platform throughout the year. Other top songs of the year include Tones and I’s “Dance Monkey” in second, Roddy Ricch’s “The Box” in third, Imanbek and SAINt JHN’s "Roses - Imanbek Remix" in fourth, and Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now” finishing off the top five.

Puerto-Rican rapper Bad Bunny was this year’s biggest artist with over 8.3 billion stream. Following his ranking at the top of 2020’s most streamed artists, Drake and J Balvin round out the top three, succeeded by Juice WRLD and The Weekend.

Eighteen-year-old Billie Eilish is the most popular female artist for the second consecutive year, followed by, in order, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa, and Halsey, who all released albums in 2020.

Bad Bunny also takes the lead with the most globally streamed album of 2020 for his record YHLQMDLG. The Weeknd’s After Hours and Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding also made the top three, followed by Harry Styles’ Fine Line and Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia.

The Joe Rogan Experience topped the global podcast charts, with TED Talks DailyThe DailyThe Michelle Obama Podcast, and Call Her Daddy rounding out the top five.
